New tenants at Uptown Row
Business — By Thatcher Imboden on November 9, 2010 11:29 pmUptown Row, the two-story commercial building on the south side of Lake Street between Fremont Avenue and Emerson Avenue, has become home to several new businesses recently. Mayfield Chiropractic is a family-based Holistic chiropractic firm. It replaced VS Social Standard. Custom Fitness is replacing Fitness Together, a personal fitness studio. Darbar India Grill recently opened as the second restaurant in the Uptown Row, joining Tum Rup Thai. The restaurant is now open for lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday. Hopefully Darbar won’t suffer the same fate as Pizza Nea or Indio, both of which struggled to make a solid go at it in Uptown Row despite good reviews.

This story is sort of old news now, but I just wanted to say that I went to Darbar recently and really enjoyed it. The food was pretty tasty and I liked the Vibe. However, it seems that particular space has trouble bringing in crowds regardless of the tenant. I would guess Darbar and other businesses that aren’t right on Hennepin and Lake would seriously benefit from daytime foot traffic.
