Timberland opening store in Calhoun Square
The 2,000 square foot store will open on the Hennepin Avenue side of Calhoun Square in early November 2011. The store will be its first Minnesota store and will feature a unique design, according to a press release from Calhoun Square’s PR firm, Sterling Cross Group. The store will sell Timberland clothes, footwear, and accessories for men, women, and children.

According to Timberland’s website, the company has opened or is opening several locations in 2011, including locations in New York City, Chicago, Boston, and San Francisco. Those stores all incorporated reused building materials, LED-lighting, low VOC paint, and other sustainable building practices. It’s unclear if that same approach will be brought to Uptown.

Euphoric Ambiance Massage and Body Works opens in Calhoun Square
Massage and bodywork facility, Eurphoric Ambiance, opened on Calhoun Square’s second floor this August. The official opening in scheduled for September 4th. Euphoric Ambiance claims to be the only Twin Cities massage clinic that offers sound therapy and heated bamboo massage therapy to complement their other massage services.

The Lowry opens in the Lowry Hill District at Hennepin-Franklin
After a slight delay from the State of Minnesota government shutdown preventing their ability to procure alcohol, The Lowry opened on Hennepin Avenue just south of Franklin Avenue. The space has been transformed from a Hollywood Video into an urban diner that specializes in burgers, whiskey, oysters, and eggs. The restaurant is the creation of the Blue Plate Group, which also operates the Edina Grill, Longfellow Grill, and others.

Hollywood Hustler opens its doors despite controversy
The adult-themed store opened at 2405 Hennepin Avenue and marked the company’s 12th store in the country. Some neighbors were upset over the store because of its affiliation with Larry Flynt and because the store sells racy and some age-restricted materials. More from Southwest Journal.
