This week crews were milling off a very thin layer of asphalt to allow for the application of a specialty tape in the shape of biker. The idea is that these tape bikers will hold up better than paint and will be positioned below the surface of the road so the snow plow blades don’t destroy them. This application has been done a lot recently with the center yellow stripes on major roads.
Today, the bike symbols went down and long green bands were painted along sections of Bryant Avenue between 50th Street and Lake Street, primarily between 36th Street and 46th Street. The bike symbols look a lot like those speed boosters from Sonic the Hedgehog.
