Uptown Theater to be renovated

Business, Featured — By on January 26, 2012 12:04 am

The Star Tribune reports that the Uptown Theater at Lagoon & Hennepin in Uptown Minneapolis will close Tuesday, January 31st, and reopen in spring after a significant renovation. The renovation involves replacing the screen, adding luxury seating, adding a full-service bar, and expand the concession stand. The exterior will stay as is, according to the article. It’s unclear if any work will be done to the aging theater’s exterior.

Real estate sources indicate that there will be some additional modifications to the two retail spaces that share the building with the theater, Visionary and the vacant corner space. Both spaces allegedly are getting bigger but no additional details have been provided on what that really means in terms of tenancy.

Stay tuned.
