Ads from the Past: Morris & Christie

Hennepin-Lake, History — By on February 13, 2013 7:16 am

The northwest corner of Hennepin Avenue and 31st was the longtime home to the grocer Morris & Christie. It opened between 1935 and 1940 under their name but a grocery store had operated there prior. Morris & Christie operated at its storefront at 3048 Hennepin until the mid-2000s when the store closed. The store had long offered home delivery, which had long been eliminated from modern grocery stores.

How cities work and change, how they are the product of their inhabitants and outside forces, and the resulting livability keep me thinking and dreaming about the future. I work in transit oriented development and have a background in urban real estate development. I am Past President of an Uptown business organization, grew up in Uptown, was on an Uptown neighborhood association Board, and am an Uptown and Lyn-Lake historian.
