Region moves to finalize SW LRT

Featured, Policy — By on March 31, 2014 8:25 pm

The Metropolitan Council, the project sponsor of the Southwest LRT Project, will consider adopting its staff recommendation to add Light Rail Transit between Downtown Minneapolis and Eden Prairie via the Kennilworth corridor and a station that would serve the West Calhoun district just outside of Uptown. Several years ago, the project had considered an alignment into Downtown that would have connected areas like Hennepin-Lake and Lyn-Lake, but those plans were ruled out.

Should you have interest, you can read more about the recommendation here. A public hearing is scheduled for April 2nd from 9:00am to 10:30am at Beth El Synagogue, 5224 W. 26th St., St. Louis Park.

Building tunnels through lake and parkland is asinine. If there’s going to tunnels for SWLRT, they should be under Hennepin, Lyndale, or Nicollet
