Uptown construction update – 4/17/2011
It seems like everywhere you look in Uptown there is construction. There are at least four cranes, machines galore, periodic lane closures, lots of construction workers, and lots of wood and concrete. What’s going on in Uptown?
CB2 starts construction
A new retail building to house modern housewares store CB2 started construction this week.
Track 29 project appealed
After the Planning Commission approved the Track 29 project, located on the north side of the Midtown Greenway between Bryant Avenue and Aldrich Avenue, William Casey, on behalf of the Midtown Lofts Condominium Association, appealed the decision. The matter will go before the City Council Zoning & Planning Committee on March 3, 2011.
Track 29 Apartments approved
RMF Group received approval from the Planning Commission to construct two buildings totaling 198 apartment units on the Track 29 site on the north side of the Midtown Greenway between the Bryant Avenue and Aldrich Avenue. The two connected buildings would be constructed within two months of each other and would be approximately four stories with sections being five stories.
MoZaic starts construction; office & retail space coming soon
The MoZaic project behind the Lagoon Cinema started construction yesterday. It will bring new Class A office space, restaurant space, public parking, a public plaza, and improved access to the Midtown Greenway.
Apartments proposed for Bennett Site East
A 223-unit apartment building is proposed on the north side of the Midtown Greenway between Dupont Avenue and Colfax Avenue in Uptown Minneapolis.
US Bank to renovate Mpls Floral
The Hennepin Avenue Branch of US Bank will move a block north to the former Minneapolis Floral building. US Bank will renovate the existing main Art Deco building and tear down the greenhouse to create a parking lot. The bank will add jobs, services, and hope to restore many older features of the building.
